The Serenity Prayer

Life is full of stress. Unexpected trials happen one after another.
Many nights being frustrated, angry, and sad, I’ve sighed loudly and couldn’t sleep. Then I was given “The Serenity Prayer” of Reinhold Niebuhr. I’ve prayed this prayer aloud repeatedly. Then my coarse heart became softer and softer.

The Serenity Prayer

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
The courage to change the things I can;
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that You will made all things right if I surrender to Your will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.

  1. Hi Kathy, so very happy to see you have added to your blog. I became very concerned when I kept checking to see updates and there were none. I actually sent You and George an email to inquire that all was well. I checked this morning and read all your recent additions and feel relived. I pray no new side effects will appear. Stay well and I will keep checking in. Love to you and George, Aunt Pat

  2. Dear Kathy,
    Thank you for sharing this prayer in your blog. It’s a blessing to learn how God is comforting you. Keeping a copy of it where I can refer to it often.

  3. I have known this prayer for a long time, but never came so close to my heart until this time. This makes me humble and courageous. Thank you for the comment!
