In the morning after the three-day weekend, George and I packed our car with lots of stuff, and headed to Green Valley Lake, which is located between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear about two hours drive in-land from our home. The purpose of this trip is for a retreat; restoring our souls.
The FW 405 was smooth with no traffic after the crazy three day weekend.
As we parted from Torrance, a beach city where the temperature is always mild and I seldom get sweaty, the thermometer of the car went up gradually; 82℉, 90℉, and then 95℉ though it was still in the morning.
Pretty soon, brown mountains with white huge thunderhead clouds behind them were approaching in front of us. As the road got narrower and uphill, now the temperature was dropping, and finally we got to the destination a cabin 7000 feet up where the sky was clear and the air was cool with 76℉.
George and I will stay here for 3 nights. In the serenity of deep green, unloading the burdens, detaching from all concerns, absorbing God’s Word from the Bible, and deepening the relationship with George and God, I want to recharge myself for tomorrow.
May our time with God be fruitful and intimate!
