Deedee invited me to her house as Erica Bauermeister, an author of a bestseller book, The School of Essential Ingredients, was coming from Seattle to introduce her new book, Joy for Beginners.
Deedee, who has supported me continuously from the very beginning, is the mother of Erica.
Erica Read Selections
At 7pm about 30 people gathered to meet Erica at Deedee’s beautiful house surrounded by tranquil woods.
Deedee and Erica greeted us warmly with homemade sweets and drinks prepared on their patio.
As dusk was descending, we all moved into the living room with a high ceiling and a cozy orange lights; there Erica started reading a story, her new book, Joy for Beginners.
Since I received this book from Deedee a few weeks ago, I have read about a half.
Her vocabulary is rich and fresh for my ears like a glowing melody. Her descriptions are so precise that I felt like I was watching a story in a big screen . The sentences are so sophisticated that they are incredible. No wonder she became a bestseller author.
Through her keen observation and fertile imagination, a simple action becomes adorable, mysterious, and extraordinary.
Glimpse of God’s Blessings
Deedee told me that she had prepared boxes of books, which were handed down from her mother, for her future children even before they were born. Yet not only that; she probably gave them the best of the bests, using her own abundant gifts, just like she knows how to take good care of her beautiful house, friends, and even strangers. Erica’s outstanding creativity was probably a fruit of such earnest parenting, I thought.
Deedee, who is in her eighties, must have had many trials, just like others, but I felt like I got a glimpse how much God has blessed her giving so much including her beautiful successful daughter, Erica.
Listening to a story read by a bestseller author in such a cozy personal setting made me feel rich and that this was one more special gift from God.
